Route to packing hall increasingly automated with AGV machines from Steenks Service
Ever more organisations are beginning to automate their internal routes on the shop floor with the aid of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs). As a supplier, Steenks Service is a specialist in these electrically propelled vehicles. Learn more about how they work and the benefits they offer in this newsletter!
Automated Guided Vehicles popular in vegetable cultivation
Wouter from Steenks Service would like to point out the added value of AGVs in pepper cultivation. โPeppers are harvested at height using an automatic pipe rail trolley with a harvesting container. After harvesting, this specially developed AGV harvester moves to the packing hall by itself at the push of a button. Once there, the harvesting container is unloaded and the trolley returns to the correct path independently.โ By contrast, when harvesting cucumbers and tomatoes, regular pipe rail trolleys are connected together and taken to the processing area by an AGV tow tractor.
AGV machine operation
In addition to in vegetable cultivation, the Automated Guided Vehicles available from Steenks Service can be used in places such as nurseries, warehouses, airports and distribution centres. With integrated induction technology and cables, these vehicles travel pre-determined routes fully automatically. If the vehicle encounters obstacles on its route, it will stop automatically to ensure safety. Only when the route is clear again will it continue. Manual control is also possible on AGV tow tractors, for one-off deviations.
